The US Buddhist Peace Walk is a 2,300 mile meditative journey by Theravada monks across America, spreading a message of compassion, mindfulness, and unity.

January 14, 2026January 14, 2026

Walking through towns and cities, the monks engage communities, share teachings on inner peace, and embody the idea that true societal harmony begins within each individual.

The world can learn from this simple yet profound example: that peaceful change is cultivated through patience, daily practice, and compassion, not confrontation or division.

It demonstrates that even small, consistent actions—walking, listening, teaching—can inspire understanding, empathy, and cooperation across diverse societies.

“From the Buddha’s Word of Old — Seeking Peace for the World Today…”With the noble Peace Mantra proclaimed by the Buddha over 2,600 years ago for the welfare and happiness of all beings as its guiding inspiration, and with the intention of spreading the soothing coolness of peace to the present world, the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress hereby extends its highest tribute to the “Maha Sangha Peace Walk.”

The arduous yet profoundly sacred pilgrimage undertaken from Texas to Washington, D.C. was not a mere journey, but a Dhamma pilgrimage that offered the healing medicine of loving-kindness (mettā) to a world afflicted by hatred and unrest. To see the timeless message of peace embodied in the conduct of the Buddha’s ancient tradition being translated into such meaningful and practical action today by Your Reverences is a source of immense pride to the entire Buddhist world.

The silent, non-violent example demonstrated by the Venerable Bhikkhus together with Aloka the dog succeeded in touching and healing the hearts of humanity as a whole, transcending all distinctions of race and religion.

As the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress, we humbly offer our salutations and profound respect to this noble meritorious undertaking initiated by Your Reverences, while extending our heartfelt wishes for peace to all people of the world.
May this exalted endeavor become an indelible step taken in the cause of world peace.
